Master Planner

Job Summary:
The Master Planner is responsible for planning, creating and placing customer orders into the plant production schedule in a manner that will assure timely delivery to the customer while optimizing efficiencies in quality, productivity, and cost. This position has a key role in customer satisfaction, plant output, and profitability.
This includes planning & scheduling materials from MRP, managing material availability, troubleshooting material availability problems, determining & eliminating the root cause of problems in the supply chain, communicating material supply issues to internal customers and resolving conflicts as they arise. This position will work in close partnership with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Scheduling, Customer Service, and Logistics in order to develop supply chain strategies and plans that maximize service levels while simultaneously minimizing risk and reducing total inventory & cost throughout the entire supply chain.
 
This position will work with Sales and Product Management to develop and manage forecast for long range material planning while considering current inventory, obsolescence, lead times, product life cycles and production capacity.

 

Qualifications:

  • Prefer minimum of 5 plus years of Supply Chain/Master Scheduling experience and Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, or Supply Chain Management
  • APICS certification preferred
  • Prior experience working in a ISO or QS environment
  • Expertise in statistical analysis and problem-solving techniques
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification a plus
  • Expertise with MS Office applications.
  • ERP/MRP experience preferably SAP
  • Experience in Production Planning software

Major Areas of Activity/Responsibility

  • Review customer orders and determine start dates to meet customer requested delivery date.
  • Understand capacity management relationship and work with machine centres to determine appropriate demand loading.
  • with appropriate raw material buyer to resolve raw material problems.
  • Inform customer service of delays that will impact meeting the customer's date and advise of new date.
  • Work to satisfy customer orders first and analyse need for made to stock materials
  • Establish, measure, monitor, and adjust capacity levels needed to execute all manufacturing schedules.
  • Complies with safety procedures to ensure a safe environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Issue a firm daily production schedule.
  • Analyze historical order patterns to facilitate creation of safety stock and optimum batch quantities
  • Ensure raw materials availability for all orders with less than seven days lead-time; coordinate
